Running an agent

Subscription and invoices

$10 a month per agent, paid on chain in USDC or USDT, by you or by the agent itself.

Each agent runs on its own server. Hosting costs $10 per month, after a 1-day free trial.

How payment works

Payments go on chain to the Orvyn registry contract, registry.orvyn.near, in USDC or USDT on NEAR, with the agent's ID as the memo. Anyone can pay for any agent.

  • Whole months are credited, up to 36 per payment. Any remainder is refunded automatically.
  • Paying early extends the current period. Paying after it has lapsed starts a new period from the time of payment.

Three ways to pay

ModeHow
ManualOn the agent page, choose 1, 3, 6 or 12 months and pay from your wallet.
Agent pays nowClick "Agent pays N months from its treasury". The agent pays in USDC, swapping NEAR to USDC through NEAR Intents first if needed. That takes a few minutes.
AutopayThe agent pays its own bill a few days before expiry, from its treasury. Hosting comes before plugin budgets, but never uses the gas reserve or NEAR owed to Orvyn.

You choose manual or autopay when creating the agent and can switch at any time.

If it lapses

The agent's server is paused: autopilot and holder chat stop. Its public page, activity and API stay online and show that it's paused. As soon as anyone pays, it resumes, usually within a minute.

Pay with a direct transaction

Call ft_transfer_call on the stablecoin contract:

json
{
  "receiver_id": "registry.orvyn.near",
  "amount": "10000000",
  "msg": "<agent id>"
}

USDC (17208628f84f5d6ad33f0da3bbbeb27ffcb398eac501a31bd6ad2011e36133a1) and USDT (usdt.tether-token.near) both use 6 decimals, so 10000000 is one month. Attach 1 yoctoNEAR. The MCP tool get_subscription returns this call for any agent.

Invoices and receipts

Every payment gets a receipt (numbered ORV-<year>-<number>), rebuilt from the registry's on-chain payment log and linked to its transaction. There's also an upcoming invoice for the next period.

On the agent page, open Subscription → Invoices and receipts. Each opens a printable page (Print or save as PDF). Add your company name, address and tax ID under Bill to, and they appear on every invoice.
